Our Fishing Report is finally back! The fishing is well under way all over the Cape. Hopefully, all of you have been able to get out there to catch a few fish. The reports have been good and we are gearing up for the 4th of July! Stop by and see us. Here's to a great fishing season!

Sincerely, Sports Port Amy, Bob, Cam, Josh and Will Fishing Report 6/24/10

Barnstable Harbor
Barnstable was amazing fishing early on with a fantastic run of mackerel. Hopefully everyone got a piece of some easy live-lining for big fish right in the channel. The mackerel have since disappeared from the grounds around the BH buoy, and there has been no further reports of schools anywhere else nearby. Although, the mackerel are gone there are still barely legal to lunker stripers hanging out in the channel falling victim to bucktail jigs, umbrella rigs, tubes, and chunked mackerel. Surf fisherman have had some success chunking mackerel, casting bombers and soft plastics, or popping in the morning at Bonehill, Scudder and Rendezvous.

Billingsgate Shoals
Billingsgate has been hit or miss reports for several weeks now. There has been action on parachute jigs on wire line, and umbrella rigs. There has also been reports of bluefish around Wellfleet harbor and billingsgate.

The Race
The race has seemed to really take off as the bass and tuna head north. Many reports of big bass taken easy on live bait or rigs. There has also been a phenomenal tuna bite around the race and peaked hill with many people hooking up with giants on bars and rigged bally-hoo.

Nantucket Sound
The Sound has been a slow year for both surf and boat fisherman alike. With the bluefish blitzing and the squid out so early in the season, the bass went through the canal and hunkered down in The Bay quick. Not all hope is lost though, reports of bass at Bishop and Clerks, Monomoy, Middleground and Great Point are increasing everyday. Bluefishing around Sampsons Island, North Bay, West Bay and Cotuit bay has been typical with a lot of people catching them in a heavy feeding frenzy. Surf fishing for blues has been spectacular off Dowses, Oregon and Loop beaches. Sea bass and fluke has had a great opening season, Succonnesset shoal has had some fantastic keeper fluke action, and areas off Cotuit and Hyannis have been successful for sea bass.

The Canal
The big ditch has had a great year so far with fish weighing as much as 50 plus pounds. Many fisherman have reported success with top water Gibbs plugs at first light or using Sebile magic swimmers. At night there have been reports of fish falling fools to jigs, chunked bait, live eels and Sebile magic swimmers.
